If you’ve seen our post The History of Online Education in Canada you know that online learning has been kicking around for a while. It has become more prevalent since the 90s with the dawn of the internet. Online education is becoming more recognized by employers and has been praised for its flexibility and self-paced learning.
These are just some reasons why online learning is the future of education.
We’re not saying that in-person learning is going to disappear. There are plenty of benefits to in-person learning, and it will continue to be an option for those who’d prefer it. The reliability of a physical place for academic learning, an in-person instructor, and a sense of community may be hard to beat. It’s interesting to note, however, that even in-person learning is beginning to distribute learning materials online and that this method is becoming increasingly popular.
For adults with a busy schedule and needing to work from home, we like to think online learning is the future of education. We’ve gathered our top six reasons why we believe online learning is the future of adult education to give you a better idea of how online learning can impact your life!
Online learning is the future of education because it is excellent for working with your lifestyle and your schedule. Got a meeting with your kids’ teacher? No problem. Does an aging parent need some help? No problem. You can study when you want, and wherever you want. There are no strict class times that conflict with your life.
Do you only have time for an hour of class today but have three hours free tomorrow? Is a specific chapter taking more of your time? Taking programs online allows you to study at your own pace and at your own leisure.
Online education can have more options for programs than traditional in-person courses. In some cases, they are even more specialized than ones you’d find at brick-and-mortar campuses.
You’ll find that the classes you want will fill up at traditional colleges quickly! In-person colleges must put an enrollment limit on the courses for space, instructor availability, and costs. Those things are not a problem at an online college, and we have no cap for enrollment space.
Online learning is the future of education because learning from your own home is more cost-effective for your wallet, and it’s better for the environment. Online tuition costs are usually cheaper, and you won’t need to pay for a bus pass or gas to get to campus. If you’re a stay-at-home mom, you’ll always save on things like a babysitter.
When you’re studying (or working) from home, you’ll have more time to spend with your family, whereas commuting to an in-person campus would take away from that. If your kids, spouse, or aging parents need something, you can be there to help!
Online learning is the future of education simply because it fits the needs of adults looking for a more adaptable career change. The best part of online learning is that it quickly leads to a work-from-home position. If working from home is something you would be interested in, know that it means more time for your family, more time for yourself, better flexibility, and more availability.
