CanScribe is proud to announce a new program: our Virtual Scribe course!
We have been working together with AQuity to build a program that will help AQuity fill out their need for the 1,000 Virtual Scribe positions they need to be filled every year!
This program provides training on keyboarding, computer fundamentals, grammar and punctuation, medical terminology, active listening, and critical thinking, with an introduction to real-world technology. Virtual Scribes listen during live patient encounters and document the patient and doctor interaction. This position is made to reduce doctor burnout and increase the one-on-one patient time.
If you have an interest in healthcare, have average typing skills, and have the desire to learn, why not try learning something new? You will learn everything you need inside the program. All your coursework is done online from your computer chair at home, and a position as a Virtual Scribe can be done right from the comfort of your own home.
If working from home and taking our Virtual Scribe course sounds like something you’d be interested in learning more about, keep reading!
A job as a Virtual Scribe appears a little like an assistant job. A Virtual Scribe’s job is to reduce doctor burnout, decrease the time the doctor spends on filling out forms and paperwork, and support the physician to focus on increasing one-on-one patient time.
A Virtual Scribe sits virtually with the doctor in real-time and types out the interaction between the patient and doctor, recording the interaction for the patient’s health record. Virtual Scribes are trained medical information managers specializing in charting the physician-patient encounter to help keep doctors up to date on past and future patient visits.
A role as a Virtual Scribe is convenient for anyone interested in the medical field, wanting to contribute to the healthcare industry, and whoever is wanting to work from home.
Our Virtual Scribe program will prepare students for occupations such as Clinic Medical Scribe, Hospital Medical Scribe, and Virtual Medical Scribe. Our instructors and educational assistants bring a wealth of job knowledge and you are guaranteed quality training.
If you’ve already completed our Medical Transcription program, the skills you need to become a Virtual Scribe are similar but when it comes down to employment is really where the two programs differ.
In our Virtual Scribe course, you will be trained in medical terminology, keyboarding, and professional development. You will learn how to interact with a doctor and patient if it’s required, develop your active listening skills, and learn to document the patient record in real time. As a Virtual Scribe, you’ll be working as an employee.
In our Medical Transcriptionist course, you are trained on medical terminology, grammar, punctuation, and developing your listening ear to transcribe a pre-existing recording of a doctor’s visit with a patient and to accurately document it. As a Medical Transcriptionist, you are working as a contractor.
The two programs differ in two major ways: what you want to do for a job (transcribe in real-time or transcribe a recording) and employment options as either an employee or contractor. Which employment option suits your schedule more?
Yes, AQuity does hire Virtual Scribes with Medical Transcription training. AQuity hires both Medical Transcriptionists and Virtual Scribes. Since CanScribe is building this program in cooperation with AQuity, the Virtual Scribe program will be tailored to AQuity’s standards, so the Virtual Scribe training may be taken preferentially over Medical Transcription training for a Virtual Scribe role.
Virtual Scribes are in high demand to help reduce the strain on physicians and to increase patient health record accuracy. If you’re interested in getting experience in the healthcare field, training in our Virtual Scribe course is a great place to get your foot in the door. It’s an excellent work-from-home job for stay-at-home moms, military spouses, caretakers looking after family, or someone just looking for great flexibility to match their lifestyle!
As a Virtual Scribe, you will be playing a critical role in supporting and saving people’s lives.
