With international services hiring and an aging population, there is no end in sight for the continuing need for CanScribe graduates. Employment of MT/HDS’s is projected to grow even faster than the average over the next few years.

Because of CanScribe’s reputation in the MT/HDS industry, 88% of our grads find employment within the first two weeks after graduating. Medical Transcription course / Healthcare Documentation course grads are in such high demand that we cannot keep up with employer requests from companies such as iMedX, Keizer Solutions, and AQuity, just to name a few.

There are over 35 hours of authentic doctor dictated reports for you to transcribe. These include over 1000 reports from a huge cross-section of medical specialties covering all work types. As you progress in your studies and gain further knowledge and skills, the reports increase in difficulty.

How are exams administered?

All the exams and tests are open book, so you have full access to the program, reference materials and all of your online resources during the exam.

Each exam consists of two components, a theory portion, and a dictation section.

Which employer will I do my practicum with? Can I choose the company?

Students can take a practicum with an employer of their choosing or they can do the practicum through CanScribe. Many graduates have gained employment immediately out of their local practicum experience. To get their own practicum, they should try asking local hospitals, doctor’s offices, clinics, labs, insurance agencies, etc. The local practicum site will need to provide them with on-the-job training. The student will have someone supervise them and assess their progress. Students can set up their own practicum, however, CanScribe will provide all students with a real-world practicum.

The practicum is considered the student’s first job in a new career and is treated as such. The practicum is 100 hours of unpaid, on-the-job work experience transcribing real patient files. Students are to commit to a minimum of 20 hours per week in order to participate in the practicum.

CanScribe offers four different practicum options:

AQuity
NTS
iMedX Australia
CanScribe
Practicum assignment is based on PIE 2 results. Any student who achieves over 95% on all reports may qualify for an external practicum. Any student who does not pass PIE 2 is assigned the CanScribe practicum.
