Below you can find the submission of Jeanna Barager, winner of one of two $750 Military Spouse Scholarship for 2022.
I am applying for the Medical Transcription course because of the rising cost of gas, and to be able to put more towards our children’s education. The other reason is because I am looking to keep busy while making money to offset the cost of living, which in this economy is essential.
I am currently on maternity leave with our third child. I firmly believe that our kids will attend college or university. I do not want them to have to pay back any student loans, or something similar. By saving and putting money away for them I’m hoping to lighten their load when they decide which institution to attend.
Even though I am currently in the Canadian Armed Forces, I have always had a second job which has helped us financially. I am on maternity leave presently so the burden is on my husband. With the rising costs of fuel and groceries I find it essential for both of us to be working. I would like to make it easier for both my spouse and I by working from home and to ease the cost of paying for gas.
In today’s economy it is harder to get ahead financially without working two jobs. I have always had a second job as it keeps my mind moving from day-to-day tasks. I require mental stimulation to keep my vocabulary from slipping into military jargon. It gives me a sense of pride to be able to contribute to society while at the same time making money from home.
In conclusion, I am hoping that this course allows me to pursue a second career from home while being able to provide more for our children’s future. As a serving military member, I value the hard work and skills required to complete my job. This includes civilian side as well. Through hard work and dedication, I believe this course will enable me to accomplish my goals.
