Do you want to work smarter and get more done in less time as a Virtual Assistant? Excellent time management skills lead to better efficiency, productivity, and more time to get things done. You have less stress and a better professional reputation. Here are some time management tips for a Virtual Assistant.
Instead of creating a long list of things to do, try to schedule blocks on Google Calendar to complete your tasks. You’ll automatically get a reference for what you can get done in the time you have, and not over-commit yourself. For many other people, it’s so hard to stay on a strict schedule and often can lead to complications. Having your plan open and simply having a to-do list made it seem more manageable and can change what you are doing as the day progresses.
Try and re-order when you do things to gain some time in your schedule. You can rinse out your blender after using it or pick out clothes the night before.
Productive triggers motivate you to stick to your plans and schedules and work harder. What may drive one person to meet deadlines when working under pressure, and another may feel more inspired when working in a fun and laid-back environment. Evaluate your problem areas so you can master your time.
Learn how to prioritize tasks because you will get burned out trying to fulfill every commitment 100%. For example, if you need money to fly home, it is critical to get in as many working hours as possible, which means you should do fewer extracurriculars. Or if you have an important test coming up, then that should prioritize time with friends. There are various ways to manage your time, but learning what your personal, long-term goals are will help you prioritize tasks over others.
In short, 10-minute sprints, work is excellent for brainstorming and generating ideas, outlining papers, or taking care of a lot of small tasks. The short sprints ensure that you accomplish a lot in a short amount of time and keep your mind active. This is one of those time management tips for a virtual assistant that is extremely underrated.
Think of the routine tasks that you can share, and ask for help. People can help you around the house or go shopping to save time and concentrate on your assignments. You will feel productive and organized in hectic moments, like holidays. Time management is meaningless when you are physically, emotionally and psychologically drained.
Your browser has a bookmarks toolbar. The idea behind using it is that you can spend a few minutes setting up a system to help make it easier and faster to do your regular tasks. The time saved can be quite substantial.
Practice not accepting every request that comes your way. Sure, we feel bad when we say no to people, but if it doesn’t fit into your schedule or align with your priorities, don’t overwhelm yourself by taking on more. If you can, block a chunk of time for your assignments. Focus on them from start to finish with minimal or zero interruptions.
Is a bin full of garbage? Throw it now. Is the table dirty? Clean it up. Do you miss a friend? Message them. Have a question for your teacher? Send that email. Allow for the right amount of time needed for any given job; this way, you spend more time on immediate tasks.
Must: Start by choosing three tasks that must get done. You don’t stop until they get finished. These will require the most thought and will help you manage your time very well. Nice: Select five tasks that would be nice to get done but aren’t essential for that day. Won’t: Select seven other tasks that probably won’t get done but should be on your radar.
There are many time management tips, and it stands to reason that you can’t use them all. Some will work for you; others won’t. All you need is to choose those meeting your needs most. Have a positive attitude toward your workload, and you’ll make your busy schedule less painful.
