Ever get the feeling you want to go out and do something? A spontaneous thought, or something you want to do that your significant other doesn’t want to? Why not do it by yourself? Learning to date yourself is just as important as any other relationship.
Need some date yourself ideas? To date yourself successfully involves love, care, and a little bit of spoiling. You’ve got to be considerate of your desires and needs, dating yourself about prioritizing yourself and your wellbeing. You know what you like. You know how to get it. You probably know where you want to go. Just do it! It can be a super liberating experience! It gets you out of the house, gets you outside, you can make sure you get what you want when you want it, and it’s very freeing and can build a lot of self-confidence.
So get out there and do it for yourself. You’re worth it.
Here are some of our suggestions that you can do if you’re looking for some date yourself ideas!
Go on a beautiful sunny day, grab lunch from a place you like, and take a seat by a lake or the ocean if it’s nearby! This is a great way to get fresh air, eat what you want to eat, and have a fantastic view to boot! It’s a serious way to relax and be calm.
You know that thing you’ve been thinking about for a while or that thing you needed but kept putting off? Yeah, that thing. Buy it. It could be as simple as a flower, a favourite candy, or a new set of paint pens or brushes or whatever you need! Spoil yourself a little.
This one is all about relaxation. Build yourself a bedtime routine, maybe about half an hour or however long you like before bed. Make yourself some non-caffeinated tea if that’s your jam, go through some gentle stretches, meditate for a few minutes, give yourself a little self-massage and maybe pull out a book. You know what you need.
This one is a big one. Take time to notice the milestones in your life and celebrate them. The process is empowering and a good reminder of how far you’ve come. Whether it’s the anniversary of you quitting smoking, becoming sober, setting a personal record, or when you first learned how to play all those notes to that song you love. It doesn’t matter what it is, only that it matters to you. Celebrate it. You’ll see how powerful it is.
Have you tried journaling before? Whether it’s a personal journey of how you feel each day, what you’re grateful for, or what you ate today, it can show you your progress about your growth. It does take some dedication, but again, you’re worth it.
Dress up in a way that makes you feel good. Show off your personality, do your make-up, do your hair in a fun way. Whatever makes you feel good. Don’t forget to go out to show yourself off!
Are you a book lover? Strolling the aisles and looking at all the titles and words surrounding you can be its own journey. Go to your local library or your nearby bookstore and peruse a little. Find that book on poetry you’ve always wanted? Oh, and maybe that one on robots? Buy them both.
Go out to a restaurant and order whatever you want. Take your time to eat it and take your time to enjoy it. It can be empowering to go to a restaurant by yourself, eat, pay, and leave. It sounds easy, and perhaps it is, but it does feel good leaving knowing you did that for yourself.
We can say, “just go out and do it!” and sure, it seems simple enough, but going to a place by yourself can be intimidating for some people. For those people, it can also be a huge confidence booster. Or even if you go places by yourself all the time, taking the time out to specifically date yourself, rather than constantly just going out to do chores, can make you happier.
The bottom line is you’ve got to invest in yourself. Do it for you.
