Graduate Testimonials

A Word from our Students/Graduates:

My experience with CanScribe was excellent!  The student forums were a great source of peer support.  The instructors and student-support team were readily accessible whenever I had questions or concerns.  Even after graduation, the staff seem to really care about graduate follow up and ongoing support.  I would recommend CanScribe to anyone interested in pursuing a career in Medical Transcription.

Jacqueline Clark, MT Honors Graduate, February 2012

I would recommend the CanScribe program to anyone interested in medical transcription.  The modules were very clearly explained and the practice questions helped me retain the information learned.  The staff were always readily available for any question or concern I had and were friendly.  Throughout the practicum portion of the course I was given valuable advice and was offered support by my instructor and by my fellow students.  Guest speaker chats and tips on where to look for work help to prepare the student for success in this field of work.

David Josuttes, MT Graduate, February 2012 [Top]

The course was a challenge.  I've attended college and university, and this was the most difficult program I have ever completed.  That said, it was so rewarding to receive my diploma, and even more rewarding to have been granted employment within a week of graduating.

What I love most about being a medical transcriptionist is that I know that I am making a difference in the health of people everywhere.  We can't all be doctors and nurses, but I am very rewarded by knowing that what I do every day is really a crucial part of the healthcare system.  People depend on my skills and my knowledge to accomplish very important goals, from diagnosing a baby's ear infection to scheduling cardiac surgery.

What I value most about the course is that it created many career paths for me.  For now, I am pleased to work from home on a contract basis, but I am also looking forward to one day accomplishing a career goal of being an administrative assistant to a Professor of Medicine.  All of this and more is possible, thanks to CanScribe.

I had been a stay-at-home mom for many years, a decision we had made since my husband worked in the oil patch and was rarely home.  But now that the children were almost grown, I was looking for some kind of work that I could do wherever I was, so that I could spend time with my husband.  I wanted to be able to do whatever training I had to do and still be flexible with my time, since I still had a child in high school.  I had heard about Medical Transcription.  I sent away for the CanScribe information package, and was surprised to actually receive a phone call from someone at the school.  Samantha answered all my questions and before long I was starting my studies.

It was great!  I could work around my daughter's school schedule, work at my own pace, and I was learning so much!  The student support workers were able to answer any questions I had, the twice weekly chat sessions were extremely helpful, giving the support and encouragement I needed to keep going.  I am still new in the field, but I love being an MT!  I get to go to work!  I highly recommend CanScribe to anyone who is looking for a new or change in career.

Angela de Kleer, MT Honors Graduate, January 2012 [Top]

My time with CanScribe was fantastic!  Everyone, from the instructors, student services, and even fellow students, wants to see you succeed.  The flexible hours were perfect for a student with a baby and the course timeline was an excellent way to stay on track.  The forums are brimming with encouragement and the scheduled chats are founts of knowledge.  Guest speakers offer personalized answers from people currently working the field and an instructor-led chat is an excellent way to hone skills or learn tricks (like ilium = hip).  The practicum offered at the end of the program is a perfect way to give students first-hand experience in the field, as well to give the students individual feedback and mentoring.  This school doesn't just offer an education; they offer a community.

Cristina Broderick, MT Honors Graduate, January 2012 [Top]

CanScribe was an excellent experience for me.  It provided me with the flexibility to learn at any time and from anywhere.  The team at CanScribe were always friendly and helpful.  The program was pretty intense at times, but the staff and forums were always there to motivate me.  I never felt that I was alone.

The practicum portion is really when it all came together for me.  It really is a valuable experience, and I would encourage anyone completing the program to take the practicum.  Upon completion I applied to Accentus, and I had a signed contract within a week.

I believe this program has prepared me with the necessary skills to become a successful MT.  The CanScribe name really speaks for itself.  Thank you CanScribe!

Trudy Osmond, Honours Graduate, January 2012 [Top]

My experience at CanScribe was very positive.  I found the course work easy to understand and work through at a good pace.  I finished the course and practicum on schedule and with great encouragement that I would do fine.  I didn't feel that way though.  I was very worried about finding a job and didn't feel that I would be prepared if I found one.  Within 1 month both places I had applied called to offer work!  This was strictly on having graduated from CanScribe as I had no previous medical, computer, typing experience, and had been out of the work force for 15 years.  As soon as I started working, I realized how prepared I was.  The course work and the practicum really are like the working world.  I am enjoying my new career.  The hours fly by and the day is done before I know it.

I would highly recommend this program to anyone looking for a new career.

Brooke Parkinson, Honors Graduate, December 2011 [Top]

While taking the CanScribe computer training I was very impressed by the functionality of the software program.  The lessons and exams were very descriptive and easy to follow and were an excellent way to learn all of the new version upgrades.  I was amazed at what I learned and am confident that I will have the knowledge to use the techniques in my daily life and work.

Thank you so much CanScribe for these excellent learning modules.

Anna Flasch, Microsoft Computer Training Graduate, March 2012 [Top]

I decided to take computer training from CanScribe so that I could try and keep up with technology and my grandchildren! They are always talking about Facebook and Tweets… it was like a foreign language to me.  As a very 'mature' learner and being somewhat afraid of computers, I was tentative about my ability to learn.  You know the old saying about not being able to teach an old dog new tricks? Well, it's wrong! I am completing the computer training with CanScribe and am happy to say that I am now on Facebook; communicating with friends and family.  I can email, search the web, play bridge online…a whole new wonderful world is opening up to me and I have CanScribe to thank.

Barb Chapman, Microsoft Computer Training Student, April 2012 [Top]

If you are seriously thinking of pursuing a successful career in medical transcription, then CanScribe is the only way to go.  Don't let the word "online" fool you.  Just because CanScribe is an online school does not make it less reputable.  CanScribe's staff members and instructors are amazing and always ready to assist you in any way they can, even long after you've graduated.  Whether you have a medical background or not, CanScribe's MT program more than prepares you to take on the real MT world with efficiency, effectiveness, and confidence.

Marichelle Ranada, Honors Graduate, December 2011 [Top]

Two quotes come to mind about CanScribe.  The first comes from a line in a George Michael song: 'If you're gonna do it, do it right...'

CanScribe is the ultimate 'right way' to learn medical transcription.  Students have the best faculty at their disposal.  The CanScribe staff are always there to help, advise, assist and encourage.  Even though learning online can feel lonely and disconnected, you are never alone with CanScribe!  They ensure you are surrounded with students and faculty at every turn.  You literally feel like you are attending school over on Main Street!

The second quote that comes to mind comes from my 7-year-old grandson who said: 'Go big or go home, papa!'  Little did he know how much that meant at the time!  Registering with CanScribe is a big decision, a significant financial investment, a one year time investment, and an all-in commitment.  That's big!!  But I didn't go home... I stuck with it and graduated feeling 100% qualified and prepared to enter the medical transcription workforce.  The grand finale of this course is the practicum.  It is such an enriching and rewarding experience that I felt triumph upon graduation.  And that is a winner's feeling!  All thanks to CanScribe!

Bruce Thomas, MT Graduate, February 2012 [Top]

I am a 'mature' student and when I started with CanScribe Career College I never in a million years thought I would be challenged the way I was.  I thought it would be easy to just type what people said.  I have typed as people talked for many years but in a very different capacity, and certainly not full reports.

I was challenged mentally, physically, and emotionally during this course, but what a journey.  I discovered that I was capable of learning new information; that being persistent and staying focused on the end result were key to completing the course.  I discovered that if you ask for support you get it.  The people at CanScribe were so supportive during those difficult transcriptions.

The transcription portion was very challenging.  There were days when I threw my hands up in despair, but as I progressed I kept adding words to my list, printed copes of reports to refer to, and took breaks to give my ears a rest.  I found taking breaks very helpful so when I went back to the transcription I would be able to hear what was being said.

The practicum portion of the course was invaluable.  I learned so much from my instructor and gained so much more confidence.  I was able to raise my final grade to High Honors on my rewrite because of the practicum component.

Being persistent, knowing what I wanted to achieve, and seeing the final outcome in my mind were key to helping me achieve success.

Lynda Curran, High Honors Graduate, October 2011 [Top]

I enrolled myself with CanScribe fully knowing I would be enrolled with the best Canadian Medical Transcription College there is.  I had the most eye opening experience of my life!  I was cast into such an amazing world of knowledge from the most easy to use online program there is.  At first, I was worried that it would be challenging to learn about the Medical Transcription world on my own, but with the endless amount of options available to the students, you are NEVER alone.  I always felt truly supported, encouraged, and was constantly given virtual pats on my back as I progressed through the course.

Being a mom of 3, and at the time working part-time, the supported option of taking the course at your time and convenience should no doubt be the most appealing aspect of this course to everyone.  Along with the knowledgeable and warm friendly atmosphere given by the instructors, it was the part of day I always looked forward to.  CanScribe Career College was the highlight of my 2011.  Truly the life-changing (for the better) moment for me.  Within ONE week of graduating, I was offered a job with one of the biggest Medical Transcription online companies in Canada.  If I can do it... YOU CAN DO IT!

Denise Brockmeyer, MT Graduate, November 2011 [Top]

I would highly recommend CanScribe to anyone interested in taking the medical transcription course.  The course is very inclusive of all the information you need to know for this career.  Although it can be challenging, it is good practice for the real work world.  I am glad that I chose CanScribe to train in my new career as a Medical Transcriptionist.

Gloria Olson, MT Graduate, October 2011 [Top]

My experience at CanScribe was challenging and rewarding.  Whenever I needed help the support from the CanScribe team was invaluable.  The medical transcription course at CanScribe gave me all the skills I needed to go straight from finishing the course one day to working the next.  I use the skills that I learned everyday working full-time as a MT.  Graduating from the MT course at CanScribe is a very fulfilling experience.

Shelly Baker, MT Honors Graduate, December 2011 [Top]

Thank you, CanScribe!  Thanks to this professional career development program, I have been able to achieve my goal of becoming a medical transcriptionist, and although this is just the beginning, I love it!  I feel that the course prepared me well to work in this field - it was challenging and difficult at times but also very interesting, and everyone at CanScribe was supportive, helpful and encouraging.  I never felt isolated and any questions I had were promptly answered.  The chats and forums were also beneficial.  It is an excellent course and I highly recommend it to anyone considering a career in medical transcription.

Bronwen Stewart, Honors Graduate, November 2011 [Top]

CanScribe prepared me brilliantly for my future career as an MT.  The course is challenging and rewarding in equal measure.  Many times I felt frustrated and intimidated by the amount of material I had to learn, but CanScribe was supportive and helpful through those rough patches.  In the end, I am so grateful that the course was as difficult as it was as now that I am officially an MT employed full time; the work is a dream come true!  I have learned almost everything I need to know, and I apply the course material to my work on a daily basis.  Thank you, CanScribe, for giving me the opportunity to work from home in an interesting and rewarding line of work.

Marcella Moorcroft, Honors Graduate, October 2011 [Top]

I was an ECE teacher for 30+ years, when I had an accident that would prevent me from returning to teaching.  I thought and thought, 'what will I be able to do around my pain schedule and from home?'  I have always been interested in the medical field, having spent so many times in the hospital and in and out of specialist's offices.  I felt like I knew a lot about procedures, illnesses, medications, etc.

I went to a Global Training office, spoke with a woman named Joan (who was so helpful to me), and she sent me on to Bowman Employment (who is a federally funded office to help retrain people who could no longer work in the field they have been working in most of their lives, and need retraining).  I was accepted as one of the people to receive help with retraining expenses, living expenses, etc. to go back to school.

I also applied all over for any grants or awards that I might qualify for.  I won an award from the Minerva Foundation for $2000; it was the Minerva Foundation's CanScribe award.  There are many awards out there to apply for that may help you in your goal.  I started CanScribe and was amazed at the first few modules about your computer.  I learned a lot of things that have made my life easier just from those modules, so do not think "ya right" when you see it, like I did, but carry on and be amazed at what you can do with your computer besides type.

The courses became more and more interesting the further I got along in the course.  It is a one year course but because I could give more time to it, I had expected to finish in March instead of July 2011.  Unfortunately, I ended up having to have two knee surgeries, the second one being a TKR (total knee replacement, did you know what tka stood for? If so, sign up, you are ready!)  I was delayed in finishing but when I finished I sent out my resume all over the place, not really expecting to hear from anyone for a few weeks.  Not!  The next day I got a call, and 2 days later I was working.

This job was perfect for me, unfortunately the boss and I had different opinions on how newbie's should start at a new place of employment.  I will not go into that now only to say after a few weeks, I had no choice but to leave.  I thought to myself, it is getting close to Christmas and we want to go away for our 40th anniversary in January, so I will wait until then to look hard.  Again I sent out my resumes "just in case".  Well once again I was called and a few days later working fulltime again.

There is one thing a lot of us do not know; there are so many employers out there that will NOT hire unless a person has taken this training... I cannot stress this enough...Good luck to you all.

Laurie Wright, Honors Graduate, October 2011 [Top]

I absolutely loved my CanScribe experience.  I had been a stay at home mom for 14 years, and finally made the decision to go back to work.  I wanted something I could do from home that had a flexible schedule and that was challenging.  I still wanted to be available for my son when he needed me, i.e. rides to work, school functions, etc.  A friend of mine had taken the course years ago, so I chatted with her and then made the decision to take the course.  It was very informative and frustrating at times, but now that I have a job in the field, I realize how valuable all the information in the course was.  I feel I was extremely prepared for the working world of Medical Transcription.  Of course, there is a learning curve when you are actually working, but the training I received made it less overwhelming.  I would definitely recommend this profession to anyone who wants to work from home doing a challenging and flexible job.  I wish I had done it years ago!

Sue Gould, MT Honors Graduate, October 2011 [Top]

I had 22 years of MOA experience in 2 specialties when I decided to enter the CanScribe medical transcription course.  I had done a lot of research into Canadian companies and they assured me that CanScribe grads are considered as eligible employees.  CanScribe is respected at the very highest level by these companies.  The course itself is intense and extremely educational.  To graduate with the highest marks possible, a student must be dedicated and work hard throughout the course.  I think most students experience a certain level of frustration and worry about actually being hired at the end of the course.  Well, I can tell you that jobs are available and that the gating process requires the same level of dedication and hard work as the course.  It pays off.  I have been hired by 2 Canadian companies.  I will be doing speech recognition editing with one and transcription with the other, as a part-time employee for both - from home.

My MOA experience did offer exposure to certain specialty terms, but the CanScribe course is what prepared me for transcription at the level required today.  One of the most important abilities we attain during the course is researching.  I would not have been hired without graduating from CanScribe and also, I would not have been prepared for the gating process.

I owe my successful results to the quality of the CanScribe course and the expectations it places at our feet.  My dedication and hard work will enable me to use all I have learned throughout the course and apply it to my work.  Just knowing that CanScribe offers lifetime support throughout our careers is comforting.  We are never alone in our frustration and in our success!!!

Judith Scott, MT High Honors Graduate, October 2011 [Top]

CanScribe is the school recommended by many Medical Transcription companies.  My CanScribe experience was a positive one.  I enjoyed learning the material and there was always somebody there either by email or by telephone more than willing to help me if I needed it.  I was hired within 2 weeks of graduating CanScribe because the company I work for now prides itself on hiring CanScribe graduates.

Janis Nedelec, MT Graduate, August 2011 [Top]

After many years of work in the same trade, I suddenly found myself in the position of having to find a new line of work.  Medical transcription seemed like the ideal thing for me, so I set about thoroughly researching the colleges who could teach me.  CanScribe came up the best, hands down – and now I know why.

The course is perfectly structured to take a raw beginner and turn him or her into a proficient, ultimately-employable Medical Transcriptionist.  Friendly, patient, always-accessible staff, chat rooms and forums through which to share frustrations and helpful hints with other students, practicums that take one from student to employed MT, and probably the most useful job search tips I've ever encountered, all took me directly into a job I just love – with virtually no 'down-time' between graduation and employment.  Would I recommend this course?  You bet!  I have – to everyone I meet who is looking for a new career.

Jane Blackmore, MT Honors Graduate, July 2011 [Top]

Deciding to take the Medical Transcription course through CanScribe was one of the best decisions I've made.  The staff at CanScribe were very supportive every step of the way, and I never felt alone in cyberspace.

By the time I completed the course and practicum I had not only the knowledge, but the confidence knowing I could be a successful MT.  I am now happily working from home as a contractor for two transcription companies and I love it!  Being a single mom, I couldn't ask for a better, and I couldn’t have done this without CanScribe.

Thanks for the support from all of you at CanScribe.

Celeste LaChambre, MT Graduate, October 2011 [Top]

My experience with CanScribe Career College was extremely positive.  All of the staff at the college were extremely helpful and knowledgeable.  They made it very easy to study from home.  The program taught me a lot and the way it is set up makes it easy to learn.  I hope you can benefit from the Medical Transcription course as I have.

Jody Paulson, MT Graduate, October 2011 [Top]

This was a whole new journey for me, but an excellent one!!  I was looking for something I could do at home and just happened to see this ad in the paper from CanScribe and did some research and thought, how interesting.!!  It was the best choice I have made.  The course is well structured and prepares you well for working in the real world.  It was fun, exciting and sometimes very frustrating, but you knew you could always pick up the phone for help.  The CanScribe team is truly awesome.  They are helpful, supportive and were always there to give you that extra little confidence boost.  I have signed with Accentus and can't wait to start!!  It's always a good thing when you learn something new every day!!

Teresa Frederick, MT Honors Graduate, July 2011 [Top]

I'm one of those people who "notices" things - the incorrect spelling, the wrong word used, the boom mike or suddenly missing item in the background of a program or film.  It used to drive me nuts!  This course has allowed me to put that idiosyncrasy to use, and to get paid for it

The CanScribe course was just the ticket.  Everyone in the organization is truly supportive and gives freely of their time and knowledge.  The course is a great preparation for the real world and the opportunity to learn from home was huge.  I completed the course in one year (in spite of a number of hiccups on the home front) and achieved Honours on my first try at the final exam.  The post-course practicum experience allowed me to use all of the skills that I had learned in the course and, within two weeks of completion, I was lucky to have three job offers!  I am now privileged to be an Accentus IC and am "lovin' every minute of it!"

If you are willing to put the time and effort in, the CanScribe course and staff will help you achieve great things!

Linda DiMambro, Honors Graduate, July 2011 [Top]

If anyone is looking for a career in medical transcription, look no further than CanScribe!  I graduated from the course in July 2011 and my overall experience was excellent. This course was extremely thorough and provided the perfect amount of practice for "real world" transcription.  One of the many benefits of the CanScribe course is the ability to study from home, according to your own schedule and pace.  Day or night, the staff is readily available to answer any questions you may have and offer support and encouragement.  I found the instructors to be very pleasant and invaluable sources of advice and assistance.  I would recommend the course to anyone looking for a job in the medical transcription field.  Thank you, CanScribe!

Shira Kurtz, Honors Graduate, July 2011 [Top]

I had been having a desire to work from home for quite some time, but didn't quite know how that might be achieved.  One day I was perusing a news website and looked at the jobs section.  There I saw an ad for medical transcriptionists and right along with it was a notice from CanScribe!  It was like a light bulb went off and I knew that was what I was going to try and do.  Challenging, rewarding and exciting are words I would use to describe it.  The wonderful CanScribe team was always right there to help and support whenever needed.  The training is very thorough and prepares the student well for work in the outside world.  I am now happily an independent contractor working from home and loving what I am doing.

Sharon Landrath, MT Honors Graduate, July 2011 [Top]

I graduated from CanScribe Career College in July of this year and what a great experience it was!!  I really enjoyed the course although it was very challenging at times.  This course is very thorough and prepares you for real world transcription.  This course provided many different practice applications that really give you a solid background.  The staff are amazingly helpful and so encouraging.  They are with you every step of the way.

I was employed one month after I graduated and I love my new career!  CanScribe prepared me well and I highly recommend this course.

Jennifer Dix, MT Honours Graduate, July 2011 [Top]

I enrolled with CanScribe in August 2010.  It came about after much research into the world of today's "Medical Transcription".  I looked into careers which could offer me flexibility in hours, flexibility in "the workplace" (mostly the option to work from home), and the possibility of contributing to our healthcare industry.  After careful consideration I chose my new "ongoing" career in Medical Transcription.  My next step would be my source of education.  Again, I did the research, and the best education platform that I could find, with the highest percentage of successful employment upon graduation, was CanScribe.  I won't lie, my new educational path had weeds to pluck and prickles to remove - I am 46 after all, but it was life-changing.  I graduated from CanScribe this August 2011, with High Honours, an achievement that brings me to tears.  Best yet, immediately following my Practicum I applied to and was offered a position as MT with Accentus.

If anyone out there is struggling, as I did, with a new career choice - whether you are 19 or 99 - Medical Transcription has been extremely rewarding and I can't wait for every new day to exercise my learned skills.  CanScribe offers the best curriculum, theory and practical - with a practicum which is invaluable to the next step of employment.

Thank you, CanScribe, for being there every step of the way in the road to my new career.  If I had it to do over....I would in a heartbeat! Kudos to CanScribe and your staff... a job well done!

Kelly Albert, High Honours Graduate, August 2011 [Top]

My experience with CanScribe was 100% positive.  I enjoyed the course very much and the staff were very helpful.  Even though I was doing my training alone at home, I never felt alone.  There was always someone just a call or click away!  They called me often to see how I was doing and to ask if I had any questions relating to the material.  To be honest, I don't think I ever did, because everything was laid out so nicely and explained so well that it was no trouble at all.  The course is challenging at times, but I am grateful for that, because so is the real world!

I also really appreciated that I could work on school and accommodate my schedule.  I learned so much in this course and am now employed through Accentus and doing very well.  Thanks CanScribe!

I can't believe it has been more than 4 years since I graduated from CanScribe.  The time has just flown by and I have been very busy greatly enjoying my new found career.  I have worked for the better part of those 4 years at a wonderful Canadian transcription company and I couldn’t be happier doing what I am doing.  I have worked my way up to a wonderfully rewarding career and in the past 4 years; I have been acknowledged by our client with 3 awards of excellence in transcription quality.  I owe this in large part to the excellent training I received at CanScribe.  Not a week goes by that I don't feel grateful that I chose CanScribe for their top-notch training when I am faced with a situation that I may not have known how to address was it not for all of the attention to detail that I received from my training.  CanScribe covered all the bases and were so supportive that I would not be where I am today without them.  I love my job, make good money, and have so much flexibility.  I can't think of a better career and I can’t think of any better place to prepare for this chosen career other than CanScribe.  Thank you CanScribe and thank you Sam for opening up this opportunity for me.

Taking medical transcription through CanScribe was one of the best decisions I ever made.  I love that you can study according to your own time schedule.  The staff were all so positive and helpful.  The chat room and forum was very informative - and fun!  I signed a contract just days after receiving my final marks and I have CanScribe to thank!

I am very happy to report that I am currently working for Accentus.  CanScribe provides a well-designed course that is easy to follow and offers exemplary support for students who want to complete an online medical transcription course.  The staff are knowledgeable and follow through with assisting students with their challenges and their job search.  Thank you for a great experience!

After 15 years in retail, I finally decided that I didn’t want to do this anymore..  I became pregnant and after my maternity leave was over, I decided I was not ready to leave my little one at a daycare..  A friend of mine (who is a nurse in the Deep River/Pembroke area) told me about working from home as an MT..  So I researched the internet, and with a little luck I stumbled upon the CanScribe site..  I enrolled and since that day I have not looked back..  I am so happy I decided to take this career path..  As scary as it is going back to school at the age of 40, I can honestly say it was the best decision ever and the timing was great..  I had so many questions from the very start, and each and every one was answered to my satisfaction..  The course exceeded my expectations and the staff was very helpful every step of the way.

A special mention goes out to my practicum instructor for her patience, wisdom, but most of all her words of encouragement when I got discouraged. The staff at Canscribe have gone above and beyond. I went from being a student, to a High Honours grad to a working MT all within 14 months.

At the same time, I would like to thank ALL of you at CanScribe Career College for all the help and encouragement you have given me throughout my studies..  This is by far the best choice I have made..  It is never too late to change careers and learn something new, because even today, I learn something new each day.

Nathalie Goulet, High Honours Graduate, March 2011 [Top]

CanScribe is such a great school, with great support and staff.  I am so glad that I chose to go with CanScribe for my training.  The in-depth and "real-life" training, (through the practicum) experience was hard, but amazing, and has enabled me to start my new career with a sense of great confidence.  I would definitely recommend CanScribe to anyone who is thinking of pursuing a career in the Medical Transcription field.

Dani Moore, MT Graduate, May 2011 [Top]

I graduated in 2009, but I wanted to give you an update on how things are going.  I am currently working from home as an independent contractor.  I am absolutely LOVING my career as an MT!  I feel that the CanScribe course prepared me very well for doing this job and gave me the confidence that I needed to succeed in this career.  I made the decision a couple of years ago to give up a very successful career to take the CanScribe course to become an MT and I have never looked back since.  It was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life.  Not only do I find the job challenging and interesting, but the extra time I now have to spend with my family is invaluable.

I have recommended CanScribe to numerous people (and several have now signed up for the course), and I will continue to do so!  Thank you so much for everything.

Jennifer Jahanshir, Honours Graduate, April 2009 [Top]

I saw CanScribe's advertisement in our local newspaper; it caught my eye as I had been searching, for quite some time, to figure out what I wanted to do.  I checked out their website and immediately became excited about what they were offering.  My strengths were spelling, grammar and also several years of Latin in high school.  I also have a penchant for researching diseases.  As I wanted to work from home, I felt that I could really benefit from their course to become a medical transcriptionist.

The CanScribe staff were fantastic.  They offered very comprehensive support administratively and technologically and they never made me feel inadequate regardless of how simple the question.  The CanScribe course, I felt, really prepared me for the real world of medical transcription, as it provided a solid background with so many different practice dictations to allow you to experience what you would actually face in the field.  It was money well spent.

Leila Iwanko, MT Graduate, July 2009 [Top]

I would recommend CanScribe if you are looking to further your education in the medical transcriptionist field.  They were very understanding of personal issues and helped as much as they could.  I like that CanScribe has extensions available as I used all of them.  If I had any questions the staff and instructors were very helpful.  Since I was able to take the course at home and work at my own pace it relieved a lot of the stress associated with furthering your education.

CanScribe provided me with an excellent learning experience.  I was able to train for a career while I still attended university!  I learned at my own pace, had access to a multitude of tools and resources, and had constant support not only from CanScribe staff, but fellow students.  The learning environment was always encouraging and positive, and helped me strive for improvement.  When I graduated, I found a rewarding career as a medical transcriptionist.  By completing CanScribe’s training, I found I was not only academically prepared but mentally prepared to face the challenges of the workplace.  I found a there were many people wanting to hire someone with my credentials, and I haven't looked back since!

When I first began, I was an English student in her fourth year of university.  When I graduated, I was well-versed in medical literature and ready to start a totally different life.  Joining CanScribe’s program was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

I was looking to make a career change.  I had heard about Medical Transcription and decided to look into it further.  After looking locally, and also at some online options, I found CanScribe.  Deciding on this program, at CanScribe, was the best career decision I could have made.  While many of my friends are searching for work, and stuck in casual spots, I have the career I want, with the hours I want, and a great income as well.  CanScribe is the best program out there.  I have heard that from my employer, as well as other MTs, and I know it through firsthand experience.  The program gives a great foundation in terminology which has proven to be extremely valuable.  Then, the course gives you hundreds of practice dictations at many skill levels.  This was also a huge advantage once I got into the workforce, because I had experience transcribing for all types of specialties and a huge range of doctors.  I love working as an MT, and CanScribe got me there.

When I decided I wanted to become an MT, I looked around at different schools offering training.  I happened on CanScribe a bit by accident when I met with a guidance counselor at another bricks and mortar school who mentioned CanScribe in passing.  Skeptical about it being strictly online, I added it to my list of places to review but from the very first day I contacted the school and ended up laughing on the phone, I was sold.  I cannot say enough good things about CanScribe, their staff and the course.  Throughout my entire year they were nothing but friendly, jovial, and supportive and always there to answer questions by phone, email, and/or chat.  The course itself was wonderful – it was challenging, informative, trained my listening ear beyond what I would have believed possible, and it allowed me the freedom to work independently with the knowledge that there was always a solid support system at my back.

I learned a lot in the course, so much that I'm still surprised I retained it all, but the most valuable component for me was the practicum.  The one-on-one attention was crucial in giving me confidence with the knowledge and practical training the course had given me.

I was hired a month after finishing the course and thanks to CanScribe I get to start this fabulous new career at home in my pajamas!

I have to be honest when I say that I was really hesitant about going back to school.  For me it wasn't about just taking a course to pass the time.  Taking this course meant spending money on a future career that would help benefit my family.  I knew going back to school would have its challenges, especially with an 8 year old and 2 year old twin girls, but I took the plunge and am so happy that I did.

Although I doubted myself through parts of the course, the instructors were right there to give me the boost that I needed to keep going.  It's funny how they can see your potential before you can.  I honestly believe that the staff and instructors go well beyond their job description to answer every question and help you to be your very best.

Every part of the medical transcription course through CanScribe impressed me.  From the computer training to the PET there was never a dull moment and I have to say I am more prepared for the real world as a working MT than I thought I could be.  For me, the best part of the course was the Practicum.  Although I had my ups and downs, Trudi was right there to keep me going.  I didn't believe in myself the way that she did, but with her guidance, knowledge and caring nature I was able to see what I could become if I practiced everything that I had been taught.

Thanks to Trudi and all of the wonderful, caring instructors (whom I think would rather help their students than sleep) I am now a confident Medical Transcriptionist.  THANK YOU CanScribe for preparing me for a great future in the MT industry and for caring about me as a person and not just a number.  You are all amazing and deserve more than just a pat on the back for what you do.

Anyone considering a career in medical transcription should definitely enroll through CanScribe.  I originally had my doubts that an online course could be of any quality or even would be recognized by a reputable company, so I applied at a local college.  Just before my course was to start the program at the college fell through.  I was so upset and disappointed at the time because I could not go to another college in another city and I was not prepared to have to leave my home.  I decided to give CanScribe a try, so I got on the internet, as well as the phone, and did some research on CanScribe.  I have to say that the feedback that I received from these reputable and large medical transcription companies had only good things to say about CanScribe graduates.  Some went on to say that CanScribe graduates are the first people they would hire and that they waive the usual 2 years of experience most companies require.  I also liked the fact that you could start the course anytime of the year.  In addition, tuition fees and books were a great price; it would have cost me more had I attended the college that I had originally applied to.

I cannot say enough about the CanScribe staff.  They are so helpful and always available, they check up on your progress online and by telephone and give you numerous online websites that will aid you in becoming the best transcriptionist that you can be.  They will also help you find a job after you complete the course.  I have made lifelong friendships with some of the staff.

I completed the course with honours and received 3 job offers in less than 2 weeks after graduating from CanScribe.  I am now working at home on the days and times of my choosing.  I am so happy that I chose CanScribe. It was the best decision I have ever made.

What a wonderful education CanScribe offers!

It was very detailed and informative and every aspect of the course was covered in a perfect order.  Every little detail from the beginning came together and made sense throughout the course.

Although this was an online course, I did not miss the classroom or feel disconnected in any way.  The instructors at CanScribe were always available and ready to help.

This education and knowledge have laid a strong foundation for me to work from.  It was both challenging and rewarding, and has prepared me well for this exciting new career.

Thank you CanScribe for this wonderful experience!

I worked in the Transportation field for 15 years.  I commuted over 3 hours a day, 5 days a week.  I was worn out.  I had always been interested in the medical field and I thought how great it would be to have an interesting career from home, and no more commuting.  I enrolled with CanScribe in January of 2009 and graduated with Honours in December of 2009.  I am currently employed and I am working as an Independent Contractor from home.  I can honestly say that CanScribe prepared me for everything I am now facing at work.  During the course I was never alone, there was always someone at CanScribe cheering me on and supporting me every step of the way.

I have never been happier in my life and I know I made the right career choice, thanks to CanScribe.

I wanted to find a career where I could work from home, and also one that allowed me to move without changing jobs. Medical transcription seemed to fit the bill perfectly.

I did my research.  CanScribe was the most widely recognized so I went for it..  I am so glad I did..  The program was comprehensive and the practicum invaluable..  My Q&A editor Sue was awesome..  She helped me fine-tune and gave me great advice for the interview progress.

Thank you CanScribe..  I am a working MT!

Medical transcription training through CanScribe is a challenging yet rewarding experience.  As a former teacher, I found the course to be extremely well presented, with clearly stated expectations, helpful time lines, ongoing and numerous support options, and lively content.  This content was highly interactive, relevant, and a great preparation for actual MT employment.  The staff could not have been more supportive or knowledgeable.  It is obviously a very professional, well thought out, and effective package – one that has led me to very satisfying employment in this important aspect of health care.

Mary Jane Reid, High Honors Grad, April 2010 [Top]

In December 2007, I began my training in the medical transcriptionist program with CanScribe.
My initial plan for enrolling into this program was to find another source of employment due to the position I held with my employer of 13 years was no longer suitable with my current disability.

I have osteoarthritis in my spine, which has caused me to be off work for the last 3 yrs.  During this time, I was given the opportunity to do a lot of soul searching and through all that found that self-employment was definitely something that I wanted to do in my future.

My daughter was the first person who mentioned a career as a medical transcriptionist in order that I could work from home. She had heard about this career through her roommate...
I received surgery in August 2008 on my neck to relieve some of the discomfort that the nerve damage had done.  My neurosurgeon was impressed and surprised when I asked him after the surgery if I could get a copy of the procedure.  He was amazed that first I would want to read the procedure but secondly that I could understand the terminology.

In February 2009 after many long hours of studying, I graduated from the program with honours.  This was no small feat.  It has taken determination, self-sacrifice, and motivation, just to name a few.  There were many days where I would have rather have been outdoors enjoying the hot summer days but instead chose to stay in and work on the course knowing that full well all my hard work would pay in the end.

I have gone through two rounds of training for the practicum and am getting ready for my third attempt.  Some situations are just out of our control, but I am determined to receive the training required in order that I can have a successful job experience.

The people at CanScribe... have been great.  The chat sessions are very informative and loaded with all the necessary tools required to make this all possible.  I have met so many great people through the CanScribe program and I cannot say enough for networking.  Some of these people have become my closest friends and are always there to give support or lend a hand when I need it.

I remember my first experience at listening to a report. I can remember thinking never in my wildest dreams will I ever be able to do this and 1 year later I am doing it, and not too bad at it I might add.

The medical field has such a potential for anyone who is willing to take the time and put some effort into it.  The jobs in this field are numerous and expand throughout Canada and the US. It all depending on just how far you want to go with it; it has no limitations.  All you need is the willingness to learn and apply yourself along with sacrificing some of your “me” time.  If this is your dream, go for it.  It will be worth it in the end.

Good luck to you and your studies if you choose this path and remember, “Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away”.

I started CanScribe after my daughter was born, while I was on maternity leave. With the help of CanScribe, I actually started a position with the Stollery Children's Hospital in Pediatric Cardiology before I was even finished Intermediate Transcription! Now my husband is taking the course while working in hopes of working from home one day.
Good luck to everyone!

My name is Andrea Fleming. I am 36 years old, married, and a mother of 3 children under the age of 9. After my husband made a major career change 3 years ago, I found myself looking for my own career change that would allow me the flexibility to work around my family's schedule. After about a year of researching, I decided that medical transcription could offer both the flexibility and the challenge that I was looking for. I researched many different transcription schools, and in the end I chose CanScribe Career College because of the practicum that they offered upon completion of the course. With no medical background, I felt that CanScribe offered me the best chance of getting hired with a transcription company because of the experience that the practicum would give me.

So, with a great amount of excitement and trepidation,  I began the course on September 5, 2007 and graduated, with Honours, on November 13, 2008. I found the practicum very challenging, but I managed to complete it on December 16, 2008, and I signed my contract with Accentus on January 9, 2009. I continue receive support and encouragement from CanScribe. My experience with CanScribe Career College was exactly what they said it would be. The course was set up in a way that was challenging, but not overwhelming, and each section prepared me for the next section. I found support in the forum and great information in the chats. Although I know that my new career with Accentus will be challenging, I also know that CanScribe Career College is behind me and they have prepared me well. Thank you CanScribe!

Enrolling in the Medical Transcription course with CanScribe has been an incredible experience. I recently graduated with honours and I am so proud to now have the title of Medical Transcriptionist. This course comes with so much support from both the staff at CanScribe and the students. The huge advantage of this course for me was the flexibility. As a mother of 3 young children it was a necessity. I completed the course in twice the time that it takes some students, but I still completed my goal of graduating with honours. The MT course is very in depth and although it is a lot to learn, it is worth every step that it takes. I have gained such a sense of accomplishment from completing this course and a new found confidence that I can meet any goals I set for myself. If anyone is considering a career in Medical Transcription, look no further! CanScribe will help make it happen!

Amy Gabert, Honours Graduate, November 2008 [Top]

I started the CanScribe course when our little boy was 6 months old as I realized I wanted to be able to work from home. I found the course to be extremely thorough and an excellent preparation for working life. I found the materials easy to use and it was good to know that help was only a phone call away. All the staff at CanScribe are extremely efficient and supportive and I have found that they answer emails and phone calls very quickly. I also found the forums to be a great support. Although I didn't contribute to them a great deal I read them every day and often found useful tips. I think the best part of the course was the practicum and I would encourage everyone to participate in this as I think it prepares you for the real world of MT work better than anything else.

Wendy Preston, Honours Grad, Oct 2008 [Top]

I had contemplated becoming a Medical Transcriptionist for about a year and a half before I finally made the decision to pursue it.  The idea of working from home and having the flexibility that MT jobs seemed to offer really appealed to me.  The things that were holding me back were the cost of the course, and the concern that I would be able find a job in the field once I completed it. Once I decided that I was willing to take the chance, I researched the various courses that were available online and decided to sign on with CanScribe. I can honestly say that I have not regretted my decision.

I started the course in April of 2007 and graduated with Honours in October of 2008. I completed the practicum November of 2008 and signed a contract with MedQuist Canada in December of 2008.

On completion of the course and practicum, I found the CanScribe staff very helpful in answering any questions I had with regard to applying to MTSO's and providing encouragement in finding employment.

I have found that the CanScribe course, without a doubt, prepares you well for a career in the MT industry. I would not hesitate to recommend the course to anyone considering it.

My name is Marnie Willer and I and I am a stay at home mom who was once a registered nurse. My children have gotten older, and I really missed my nursing but wanted a job I could do from home that would still pertain to my nursing field and what I had trained to do as my career. My mom told me about an ad for medical transcriptionists with CanScribe, so I enquired and decided to enroll. My medical background was of a definite advantage and through hard work and dedication I completed the course.

The path through medical transcription is a very interesting one right from the medical end of it to transcribing numerous reports. The people who work at CanScribe are very supportive and always very helpful with any and all questions. They understand your frustration and urge you through it, as well as pat you on the back with all your successes. It is wonderful to be able to enroll in an educational program and do the entire schooling and testing all from your own home computer and at your own speed.

CanScribe assists you with a list of possible places of employment once you are finished, so you are not just left out there on your own trying to figure out what's next. It took a lot of online time applying and testing with numerous companies, but again hard work paid off, and I received a job in November and began working in my new chosen career in December. It has been great! The company I work for is wonderful and very supportive.

If you have interests at all in the medical field and are a dedicated, disciplined person who wishes to work in the comfort of your own home, this is the place for you!

Marnie Willer, Honors Graduate September 2008 [Top]

I found CanScribe very helpful all the way through the course and especially now that I am searching for work. It is easy to follow the course as you go. The chat lines and forums were great too. They allowed you to connect with others. Many times when I felt like it was just too difficult and I wasn't sure if I was on the right track, I found through the chat line that there were others who were going through the same things as me. That helped a lot.

I would like to take this time to thank all of the CanScribe staff for the fantastic job you do there. I never once felt "alone" at any time during the course and it was a huge comfort knowing that help was only a click or phone call away. You are all so supportive and constantly cheering from the sidelines. I am so glad that I chose CanScribe as the place to receive my medical transcription education from and I would not hesitate to recommend your program to anyone contemplating this type of career. It was not easy, but then most things worth having are not! I am now able to accept the position offered to me and begin my "real time" work as a Medical Transcriptionist.

Kimberley Lynds, Honours Graduate, July 2008 [Top]

I just want to say I would highly recommend CanScribe's course to anyone who is considering the medical transcription field. The curriculum is widely recognized in the industry as one of the best. Because of the great reputation that CanScribe's students have, I was able to gain employment less than 1 week after I completed the practicum and have confidence in my ability and know I will succeed and continue to grow and learn. I want to thank CanScribe and all of the wonderful people who work there; they have all been really supportive.

Deb Amstein, High Honours Graduate, May 2008 [Top]

I graduated from CanScribe in March of 2008 and I have a fulltime position at the local hospital in Kamloops. The practicum that is offered along with the course has given me a great educational experience overall. CanScribe definitely prepares you for the "real world" of medical transcription! It really teaches a person how to transcribe, as well as being totally prepared for the objective portion of the job. Thank you for providing me with an outstanding learning experience! Thank you for giving me a wealth of knowledge and the confidence to start a new career. CanScribe, you have given me the tools I need to make my dream come true. Thank you for offering a course that can be achieved while accomplishing life's normal tasks and challenges. This has been a very positive experience for me!!

Diane Wenz, Honours Graduate, March 2008 [Top]

I am currently employed with Accentus and I would recommend my employer to other MTs.  Following graduation, I worked for 2 other MTSO's prior to landing my position with Accentus and I must say that I am far happier here than with my previous 2 jobs.  Not that I didn't like the other 2 companies, but Accentus is a very reputable company and a fantastic employer.

I love my career as an MT. I work from home and, while the pay check may not be as large as when I worked full time (prior to having children), I make enough to pay the bills and still be able to be a full-time mother for my 2 children. Another reason I enjoy working from home is that when my kids' school has a storm day, I am here to pick them up and be home, yet I can still get some work done. I don't have to pay for daycare or other expenses that are required when you work out of the home. I also do not have a set shift and can work any hours I like, just as long as I meet my minimum requirement.

So there you are. In a nutshell, I must tell you that my decision to become an MT and take my course through CanScribe was probably the best career decision of my life.  I love what I do and I would recommend it to others without a second thought.

Jo-Ann Souchereau, High Honours Graduate, August 2006 [Top]

I work for AccuScribe and would recommend them to other MTs. I have just begun my career as a Medical Transcriptionist, but so far it is what I have always dreamed of!! I get to work from home and am very happy with my income.

While I was taking the course through CanScribe, I always felt as though I had someone sitting on my shoulder helping me through the whole process of learning. There was always so much support and I was always treated respectfully and quickly. I am very proud to say that I am a CanScribe Medical Transcriptionist graduate!

Marcy Nolan, Honours Graduation, October 2008 [Top]

This January marked my third year with Accentus!  I gave up my casual position at our local hospital this past year because things were going so well with Accentus.  I love the flexibility of working from home, but truly value the experience I got working on-site, especially as a new MT just starting out.  Overall, I have had a very positive experience with Accentus and have highly recommended them to a number of fellow MTs.

Since I graduated, I have seen a continued improvement in my skills, confidence level and speed.  Because of these improvements, I have seen an increase in salary and am happy with what I currently make per hour.  I work on a large hospital account, so my work types and dictators are constantly changing.  This can make it difficult at times, but keeps me challenged and always learning new things.  I truly love my job and taking the course through CanScribe was one of the best things I have ever done!!

Nikki Thiessen, High Honours Graduation, October 2005 [Top]

I would just like to say how much I appreciate all of you at CanScribe!

I believe I have been somewhat of a 'quiet' student, not laying much demand on your support offerings.  But whenever I have had any communication with any of you, it has been professional, helpful, sympathetic, respectful, illuminating, and you are all just such nice people!!  Please pass it on to Frank and the others who do so much to make us students feel special and worthy. You're the best!

I had been doing bookkeeping onsite, and at home for the past 18 years. I was looking through the local newspaper for employment opportunities and saw an ad for training to become a Medical Transcriptionist.  I talked to a few people that were doing that work and decided that was what I wanted to do.  I was ready for a career change.  I checked out the CanScribe website and did the course demo.  I called CanScribe and was greeted by extremely friendly staff.  They sent out all the paper work to fill out and within days I had my reference materials and my online course was up and running.  I was so excited to be learning something so completely new for me, as I had been doing the same thing for such a long time.  The course instructions were easy to follow, and I couldn’t wait to get to each new section.  The nice thing about the online course was that I could study on my own time.  Once a month a staff member from CanScribe would call and make sure I was not having any trouble, and give me an update of my progress.  The CanScribe forum is a really great way to find out invaluable information from other students and graduates.  Personally, there were many things from the forum that helped me along the way.

The transcription portion of the course was challenging, but definitely prepares one for the real world of medical transcription.  Once again the forum provided information for great reference sites.  I managed to complete the course in just over 9 months, and graduated with high honours.  By the time I finished my practicum, it had been exactly 1 year since I started the course.  I would recommend anyone who is looking into doing medical transcription to take the CanScribe Career College course.  It is fun, challenging, and prepares you for working in the medical transcription field.

I am truly happy with my new career. I was a salon owner/operator for almost 13 years and because of a reaction I started to develop to the chemicals, I was put in a position where I needed to change careers. In my mid 30s I was not sure what to do when a friend told me about CanScribe. I was encouraged from the moment I called the school to get more information, and signed up a week later. I have always received tremendous support along the way, and was very happy with how I could connect with other students and grads on the forum and during the chat sessions. It is a great way for extra help, support and to get to know your fellow students. It makes you feel a part of something. It encouraged me to push through the frustrating sections, and it was nice to know there were other students going through the same thing. Since graduating with high honours I was offered a great job one week later, and have been a happy working MT every since. I will also add, that I was offered more than one job since graduating, and have since made a change to a bigger company. I feel that CanScribe has a great reputation and by having them on your resume makes you stand out above the rest.

So thank you CanScribe for my new career.

I cannot say enough good things about CanScribe. The course was in-depth. I found it to be very thorough and challenging. It really helped that I was able to work at my own pace while still working. The instructors were extremely helpful whenever I had any questions or concerns. The forum is a great place to meet other students and ask questions, and if you don't want to ask, just have a look around, because there is a lot of helpful information on there!

After graduating, the instructors went above and beyond their call of duty to try and accommodate me in the practicum. I was offered a job as a MT just 6 weeks after graduation. I am now working as an MT full-time from my home and absolutely loving it!

CanScribe totally prepared me for my new career. Everything I learned from this course, I am able to utilize in my new MT job. Thank you CanScribe!

When I first started thinking about being a Medical Transcriptionist, my first thoughts were something like "I can type, so I should be able to do that."  Well, what I didn't realize was that medical transcriptionists are well-trained professionals.  I did not realize that it takes commitment, patience, persistence, and a real interest in learning the various aspects of the medical field to become a medical transcriptionist.  There is so much to learn, but CanScribe was there providing support, and instilling confidence every step of the way.  Every time I had a question that I thought was unique to me, I would either go to the chatroom or the forum and find out that everyone, at one time or another, had the same concerns. I had a monthly call from CanScribe just wondering how I was doing, or sometimes to tell me that I was doing extremely well for my particular point in the program.  That always made me feel great.  Weekly emails reminding me to come to the chat room to talk with fellow students were also very helpful.  Now that I have graduated from the program (with Honours), CanScribe is still there, providing me leads on jobs and always trying to help.  I still go to the chatroom every chance I get.  It provides support in my job hunting efforts, and also as a graduate, maybe I can provide some insight to the new students.  I know I was always appreciative of any inside info I could get from the students who were further along in the course than I was.  I also participated in the practicum.  The practicum is a great way to get the "feel" of what transcription in the real world will be like.  My QA Editor was very supportive and provided me with valuable information on how to develop my transcription skills.  I completed the course in approximately 9 months and then the practicum in approximately 5 weeks.  At times it was difficult, but with the help of everyone at CanScribe I persevered and am now an Honours Graduate from the Medical Transcription Course. This is an accomplishment I am very proud of, and cannot wait to start my new career as an MT. Thank you everyone at CanScribe.

My experience with CanScribe was great! I would have never gone back to school if I had to go into a classroom. The fact that the course is self paced helped me to fully understand the material and not feel the pressure to keep up with a class. The support for students from the staff, other students and graduates is amazing.

I have over 30 years of job experience behind me with numerous courses taken over those years. CanScribe is truly the best course I have taken! It is extremely well thought out, the support is truly incredible, and the skills are REAL! I completed the course with the confidence that I could compete in the MT arena with skills that I have learned through the CanScribe course, and that is exactly what has happened. I have achieved employment with one of the top 3 agencies that I had hoped to be hired by. My strongest recommendation to anyone embarking on this course is to listen to the directions provided by the course guides, join in on the chat rooms, make use of all of the resources that CanScribe provides (and there are lots), and complete every step of the course and you will find yourself to be a skilled and confident MT at completion. I would highly recommend this program to anyone interested in being successful in an interesting and challenging career. It is simply a bonus that I can also work from home.
