2015 Canadian Military Family Member Scholarships
CanScribe Career College, a leading educator for online learning, is pleased to announce that the winners of the 2015 Canadian Military Family Member Scholarships are Darlene Hunter and Lindsay Iroume. Each winner will receive $1500 toward their education in the CanScribe Medical Transcription/Healthcare Documentation program.
“I am very thrilled to be chosen for this opportunity, and to be starting on a new career path that will allow more room in my life for my children and family” said Lindsay Iroume. “I look forward to getting started!” Darlene Hunter is also very excited to start a career that she can do from the comfort of her own home. Her family has been involved with the military for over 29 years, with her husband serving seven tours overseas and some her children looking into possible military careers of their own. After recently being diagnosed with a painful medical condition, Darlene is passionate about doing her part in making a difference in healthcare, and giving back to the medical community. “I want to give back in a way that could be possible for me” said Darlene. “I believe that the Medical Transcription/Healthcare Documentation industry is an important part of our health care system.”
The scholarship recipients are carefully selected through a review process. Applicants submit an essay describing their personal motivation for applying, including their background information, how a Medical Transcription/Healthcare Documentation career could impact their life, and their plan of action to complete the course, as well as future goals and aspirations. Both of this year’s recipients showed a need for mobility and flexibility in their careers, as well an expressed dedication to pursuing their education and career goals.
CanScribe developed its Canadian Military Family Member Scholarships as a way to support military families who struggle to find and maintain employment due to the mobility that a military lifestyle demands. CanScribe’s online education opportunities, as well as the home-based Medical Transcription/Healthcare Documentation career path, offer the freedom and flexibility that military families need.
“We are honored to be offering two scholarships to Canadian Military members or their family members each year” says Jacqueline Perrin, Manager of Admissions and Student Services at CanScribe. “We are thrilled to help our scholarship winners with the cost of the education which will improve their lives by enabling them to have a portable career which is so important with the lifestyle their families lead. We would like to congratulate Darlene and Lindsay, and we wish them well as they take their first steps toward their new careers.”
The two Canadian Military Family Member Scholarships are awarded each year, and applications are currently being accepted for 2016. CanScribe also offers other scholarship opportunities, including scholarships for students wishing to study at the Kelowna, BC campus, as well as a yearly scholarship for an individual who shows outstanding support in their community. More information on scholarships can be found on CanScribe’s Scholarship page, and applications can be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org.
