CanScribe Career College is pleased to announce the two winners of the 2016 Military Family Member Scholarships: Robin Taylor and Stephanie Russell. Each winner will receive $1500 towards their education in CanScribe’s Medical Transcription / Healthcare Documentation program.

Scholarships are carefully selected through a review process of submitted essays describing personal motivation for applying. This includes background information and why CanScribe’s Medical Transcription / Healthcare Documentation program is right for them.

Robin is “confident the CanScribe Medical Transcription course and employment opportunities that follow will fit what [she] needs and wants in a career.” Robin has two young children and needs the flexibility to allow her family to be the number one priority in her life rather than have it take a back seat to her career. With Robin’s husband being away with the military for months at a time, Robin needs to be there for her two children. Robin has also set a person goal to finish the course in 8 months; with the perseverance and determination Robin has shown, CanScribe believes this is an achievable goal.

Stephanie has also shown amazing determination and both personal and emotional strength. With family illnesses causing a great deal of pain and hardship, Stephanie is looking for a career where she too can spend as much time as possible with her two young children and her husband. “The fact that the course is online is a great determining factor for me and I also thrive on independent study,” said Stephanie. “…I feel this career path is perfect for our family as it provides me with the mobility to carry my career with me if my husband is relocated,” she continued.

Robin and Stephanie have both shown amazing resilience and strength through tough times. Their dedication to their families and the need for flexibility and mobility are why the MT/HDS course is a great fit for them. The military family lifestyle demands the ability to be mobile and can be very stressing for these families, and this is why CanScribe offers these two annual scholarships. Supporting the families that protect our country is something that CanScribe, and their staff takes great pride in. Robin and Stephanie are the epitome of how strong, determined and influential military spouses truly are, and are exactly what CanScribe looks for in the candidates for the Canadian Military Family Scholarship.

The Canadian Military Family Member Scholarships are awarded annually, and applications are currently being accepted for 2017. There are other scholarships offered by CanScribe such as the onsite scholarship for students wishing to study on CanScribe’s Kelowna campus.
